Abstract

999,189. Cartons. PACKAGING CORPORATION OF AMERICA. June 10, 1963 [June 29, 1962], No. 23024/63. Heading B8P. A tubular carton (Fig. 8) has a laterallyextending display panel formed from two juxtaposed elements 18, 19 which form an enclosure for discount coupons or an advertising card. The carton is formed from the blank of Fig. 2, on which the coupon is placed in position, adhesive 22 is applied to flaps 25 and the portion 19 is folded about the line 20 to enclose the coupon. The side panel 4 and flap 5 are then folded about the line 8 to disclose a strip of adhesive along the inner edge 9 of the flap 5. The coupon enclosure 18, 19 is then folded about the line 6 to adhere to flap 5 and complete the tubular carton. A frangible portion is formed in the panel 18 by scores 28 to provide a rip-strip for easy removal of the coupon from the enclosure. Outwardly diverging cuts 29 form a tab 30 at the end of this strip. A peep hole 26 (Fig. 8) is provided to ensure the coupon is in the enclosure. Slits 14 are provided in the end closure flap 15.
