998,554. Down draught diverters. RADIATION Ltd. July 7, 1961 [July 7, 1960], No. 23832/60. Headings F4J and F4W. A down draught diverter for gas-fired appliances comprises a casing with a baffle between an inlet and an outlet which forms primary and secondary passages between the inlet and outlet, the primary passages containing restrictions to throttle the combustion gas flow, and the secondary passages being directed downwards towards further outlets in the casing, and joining the primary passages near these further outlets. As shown, the casing 1 is rectangular in section, with a cylindrical outlet 3, and has a diamond-shaped baffle 6 extending across the section. This baffle may alternatively be a flat horizontal sheet. The restrictions consist of curved sheets of metal with portions 11, 12, 13 and 14, of which the throttling face 11 curves in towards the baffle, and the ends 14 project through the further outlets 10. The diverter can be attached, e.g. to a water heater, by clips 15. Specification 926,561 is referred to.
