Abstract
997,593. Metallurgical converters. DEMAG A.G. March 20, 1962 [March 22, 1961], No. 10673/62. Heading F4B. A converter for refining melts blown by lances, rotatable on two lateral trunnions 4, has an inner space symmetrical about a plane including the longitudinal and rotational axes of the converter, the bottom part 1 being formed as a truncated cone of circular cross-section, the middle part 2 being of rectangular crosssection in the plane of the axes and of increasing cross-section in a longitudinal plane transverse thereto, and the top part 3a-3e being a truncated cone tapering to a mouth 6 of reduced but similar cross-section. The casing of the middle part may consist of two semicylindrical metal plates 2a, 2b inclined to the longitudinal axis and two interposed flat triangular metal plates 2c, the greatest crosssection being above the rotational axis.
