Abstract
995,501. Agricultural implements. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. May 1, 1962 [May 2, 1961], No. 16593/62. Heading A1B. A reversible plough is provided with a tailwheel unit which is rotated with the plough bodies and which is provided with braking means to slow the wheel unit down as it falls by gravity during the turning over of the plough bodies. As shown the wheel unit is rotatably mounted on a shaft 23 and a coil spring 52 surrounds the shaft and is compressed against the sleeve 38 of the wheel unit by a washer 53 provided with cam faces which co-operate with a pin 57 which extends through shaft 23, the pin riding over the cam faces as the wheel unit is rotated thus further compressing spring 52 and giving a braking effect. The wheel unit is locked by means of gravity operated latches 27, 28 and the unit is used to adjust ploughing depth by means of a handle 47. The unit is removed and placed on a shaft 24 when the plough is transported.
