995,480. Flexible hose. TECHNO-CHEMIE KESSLER & CO. G.m.b.H. Oct. 8, 1963 [Oct. 10, 1962; July 6, 1963], No. 39635/63. Heading F2P. A hose comprises a supporting helix 1, 2 of metal, synthetic plastic, or metal 1 sheathed in synthetic plastic material 2 about which a strip 3, of synthetic plastic material, having a cross-section in the form of two curved marginal portions of unequal radii interconnected by a web is disposed helically with the supporting- helix convolutions 1, 2 seated in a channel formed in the marginal portion of smaller radius and with the portion of larger radius overlapping the smaller radius portion. The tubular formation formed by the strip is covered by an external tube 4 of synthetic plastic material which lies in engagement with the said tubular formation and has an undulatory form, the course of the molecular chains of the strip material extending approximately transversely to the hose axis and the course of the molecular chains of the external tube 4 extending parallel to the hose axis. Longitudinal wires or threads 5 of metal, plastics material or textile material, radially spaced, may be inserted between the outer tube 4 and the strip 3. The outer tube may be extruded, heat shrunk or fitted by expansion on to the strip 3. The overlapped portions of the strip and the supporting helix may be welded or cemented together.
