Abstract

994,235. Thermocouples. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 22, 1963 [March 26, 1962], No. 11450/63. Heading H1K. One or more of the wires forming a thermocouple is embedded in an insulating material and is enclosed in a sheath which is built up from two layers of metal, said sheath having been brought to a smaller cross-section than its original cross-section over at least part of its length by hammering, rolling and/or drawing. The thermocouple elements may be platinum with a rhodium-platinum alloy or (for use below 1000‹ C.) a chromium alloy with an aluminium alloy. The two layers of the sheath may be soldered or brazed together and chromium-nickel-iron alloys, and copper are mentioned as suitable materials.
