Abstract
980,466. Sheathed resistance heating elements. PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. Feb. 14, 1962 [Feb. 17, 1961], No. 5667/62. Heading H5H. A resistance heating unit includes a resistance element in the form of two or more interconnected parallel reaches embedded in insulating material compressed within a metal jacket which is closed at one end and from the other end of which the free ends of the element project, these free ends and the end of the jacket near to them being of enlarged crosssection. The element 2 and jacket 1, Fig. 3, may be of stainless steel or chrome/nickel alloy, and the insulating material of magnesium oxide or aluminium oxide. The unit is constructed by olosing one end with a plug 3 of the jacket material, and reducing the cross-section of the unit by hammering. A three-branch element, Fig. 4, may be used with a three-phase supply.
