Abstract

994,189. Discharge apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961 [Oct. 3, 1960], No. 35223/61. Heading H1D A high-frequency transmitting tube comprises an electrode assembly 2 enclosed within a glass-walled envelope 1 and a conductor 3 carrying high frequency current secured and electrically connected to an electric terminal, wherein the terminal comprises a metal cap 4 sealed at one end into a glass wall of the envelope, a contact member at the free end of the terminal and an annular metal flange 7 secured and electrically connected to the cap, the flange being located between the cap-to-glass seal and the contact member, and wherein the outer diameter of the flange is at least twice the outside diameter of the cap. The flange may be secured to and around the cap part of which forms the contact member as shown. Alternatively, the contact member is sealed to the end of the cap, the flange being sealed between the cap and the contact member and being integral with the contact member.
