Abstract
993, 902. Forming fibre webs. VETRERIA ITALIANA BALZARETTI MODIGLIANI S.p.A. Nov. 26, 1962 [Nov. 24, 1961], No. 44555/62. Headings D1N and D1R. Webs of glass or other fibrous material are formed by deposition of the material first on one conveyer and then on to a second moving more slowly than the first, the belts being so disposed in succession that fibres are separated as they fall from the first belt to the second. As shown, a stream of glass fibres that have been deposited on a conveyer 13 from stapling rollers is allowed to fall off the conveyer on to a second conveyer 14. The speed ratio of the two conveyers may be 10: 1. Both conveyers may be foraminous and may have suction boxes beneath their operative runs. Separation of groups of fibres into individual fibres may be assisted by an air jet from channels 22 that direct the jet tangentially to the belt 13 as it passes over a roller 17. Before falling on to the first conveyer, the fibres will previously have had a binder applied to them and the second conveyer may pass through an oven.
