992,977. Valves. E. KIEBACK, and P. PETER. March 28, 1962 [April 8, 1961], No. 11864/62. Heading F2V. A rotary cylindrical valve, for connection in a water heating system wherein a supply from and return to a boiler are connected to branches 4 and 9, respectively, whilst branches 5 and 6 constitute respectively an outlet to and return from a consumer device, includes a valve member in the form of a diametral rotary slide or vane 10 having eight wing portions 12, 13 which are contoured to conform approximately to the shape of the ports provided by the branches to avoid flow losses. Branch 9 forms an injectorlike nozzle concentric with a connecting branch 7 into which an open by-pass 8 from the branch 4 leads, to provide a direct circulation through the boiler for protection purposes. To provide finer control, the ports may be elliptical with major axes in the common plane of the branches.
