Abstract

992,156. Rolling. HILLE ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Aug. 14, 1963 [Aug. 15, 1962], No. 31315/62. Heading B3M. A guide for twisting rod or bar between rolling steps includes at least one pair of eccentrically mounted frusto-conical rollers, spaced side by side and oppositely mounted to form a parallel sided gap between them. Rod or bar passes between pairs 10, 12 or 50, 52 of rollers, the supporting shaft 20 of each roller being screwed into an eccentric base in a cup-shaped member 28 which is keyed to a pinion 34. Rotation of worm-carrying shafts 48 and 44, thus rotates shafts 20 and hence the rollers to vary the spacing between adjacent rollers. The rotatable part of the rollers is faced with a carbide material 26.
