991,193. Orthopaedic traction apparatus. A. M. GOODMAN. June 14, 1962 [July 18, 1961], No. 22928/62. Heading A5R. [Also in Division G1] An orthopaedic traction device comprises one or more elasticized webbing members with a graduated empirical poundage scale marked thereon, each member having means for connecting it between a rigid support and a traction halter, corset or cuff. A head halter is connected at each end through an elasticized webbing strap 2 having the scale marked thereon, to an adjustable non-elastic webbing loop 5 to a rigid support, e.g. a door frame, bed or chair. Alternatively, an adjustable elasticized webbing loop (Fig. 2, not shown) connects each end of the halter with the support. A pointer 8 fixed to one end of the elasticized webbing strap or loop indicates the tension applied on the scale 9. The pointer may be formed by a join in a transparent sleeve which surrounds the webbing and is fixed to it at one end.
