The two parts 1, 2 of a switch housing, which hold contact terminal plates 4a and 4b therebetween, are held together by a U-shaped resilient bridge 8, 9 which has projecting lugs 9d supporting the switch-actuating member 3, and may also be provided with means for securing the switch on a support. The lower part 1 of the housing has open ends and grooves 1e in which lugs 4a<SP>1</SP> on plate 4a engage. Spacers 12 fit in the grooves 1e to retain the plate 4a and render the switching chamber dust-proof. Pins 2b integral with the top part 2 of the housing project into holes in plates 4b to secure these plates in position on shoulders formed in part 1. Fixed contacts 7b on plates 4b co-operate with a moving contact 7a on a plate 5 which is loosely pivoted in a slot 5a in plate 4a and engaged at its top end by a compression spring 6 in the rocker 3, thereby providing a s p-action change over function. The sides 1f and 2f of the housing are tapered as indicated at 1f<SP>1</SP> and 2f<SP>1</SP> such that the side arms 9a of the resilient bridge (see Fig. 3) ride over these during assembly and lock over edges 2d. The web 8 of the bridge has a down-turned lug 8b by which one or more switches may be mounted on a support member provided with corresponding slots (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown). Alternatively or additionally a spring clip 13 (Fig. 3) may be used for mounting. In a modification (Figs. 9 and 10, not shown) the housing provides two switching chambers. The side arms 9 of the bridge may be bent outwardly in the vicinity of actuating member to enable the switch to be directly wallmounted without a separate support member. The switch may be assembled by holding the web 8 of the bridge magnetically and inserting the components in sequence, from the base part 1 to the actuator 3. The switch may be easily made retractive by inserting a compression spring in one of the bores 2e to bear against the underside of the actuator 3.
