Abstract
989,880. Rocket motor. MINISTER OF AVIATION. July 1, 1958 [July 29, 1957], No. 24022/57. Heading F3A. In a rocket projectile, inaccuracy of flight due to asymmetry of combustion-gas flow, is reduced by baffles which deflect the gases through several small, internal, orifices to a chamber in which the gases are remixed and then ejected from the propulsion nozzles. As shown, the gases from the propellant charge 4 pass to the propulsion nozzle 11 through the annular space 7, the orifices 12 in the baffle plate 1 and the mixing chamber 2. The orifices may be set at angle to the radii to produce swirling in chamber 2.
