Abstract

989,273. Latches. PETFORD & O'NEILL Ltd. Dec. 18, 1963 [Dec. 22, 1962], No. 48508/62. Heading E2A. A door handle assembly includes a handle 10 and a face plate 12, the handle being provided with a mounting plate 11 which is hidden when the face plate has been fitted, interfitting formations being provided on the face plate and on either the mounting plate or the door 15 for attachment of the face plate to either the mounting plate or the door, these formations including a plurality of pegs and sockets and the sockets being formed in a member of resilient plastics material. As shown, spigots 16 project from the rear of the mounting plate 11 in alignment with fixing holes 13 therefor, and inserts 23 of plastics material are located in holes 22 of the mounting plate for frictional engagement by pegs provided on the face plate (not shown). Rotary movement of the handle 10 against the action of a torsion spring 25 is limited by a member 19, with which the handle is engaged, and by stops 20 on the plate 11. In modifications, sockets may be provided on the face plate for engagement with pegs on the mounting plate or the pegs or sockets may be provided on the door itself.
