Abstract
986,682. Dynamo-electric machines. SOC. GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES ET MECANIQUE, ALSTHOM. Jan. 8, 1962 [Jan. 6, 1961], No. 714/62. Heading H2A. A generator, e.g. for a rail vehicle traction motor, comprises two diesel engines mechanically interconnected such that one rotates the inductor member and the other the induced member, of a generator, in opposite directions, the two engines being interconnected by a casing (not shown, see. Fig. 1) forming a protective cover for the generator and having passages through which cooling air may pass. The generator comprises an inner rotor 16 driven by shaft 50, and an outer rotor 17 driven by shaft 44. The rotor 16 has laminated poles 19, which are provided with a damper 24, and on which coils 25 are held in place by hollow supports 26 through which cooling air passes. The rotor 17 comprises laminations 27 having axial ventilation holes 28 and winding slots 31. The parts of the winding 32 outside the slots are held clamped against cylindrical surfaces 33 by split-rings 36. The radial arms 42, 43 of flanges 40, 41 have helicoidal ventilator blade sections to ensure axial ventilation.
