Abstract
986,669. Projectile fuzes. VERWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT DER WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. May 19, 1961 [June 30, 1960], No. 18349/61. Heading F3A. In a projectile having an instantaneousaction nose fuze and a delay-action base fuze, the nose fuze may be rendered inoperative, prior to launching, by the rearward movement of a firing pin 15 to engage a bore 14 in a detonator slide 9, the pin 15 being held rearwardly by a locking pin 22 which engages in front of a collar 17. If the nose fuze is not rendered inoperative, the slide 9 moves under the action of a spring 12, after release by an inertiaoperated bolt 13, so that a detonator 10 is brought into axial alignment with firing pin 15. A device for launching such projectiles and having means for selectively actuating the nose fuzes to render them inoperative is described in Specification 986,670. A protective cap 25 is provided for use during transport and storage.
