986,468. Magnetic structures. AMPEX CORPORATION. Feb. 27, 1964 [April 1, 1963], No. 8273/64. Heading H1H. A magnetic recording medium comprises a substrate coated with colloidal magnetic particles dispersed in a resin, said particles having no shape anisotropy, and aligned by an A.C. or intermittent D.C. field. The peak value of the field does not saturate the particles. The particles are cobalt, about 300 Š in size and form in chains of 10 to 20. The field is applied in 10 millisecond pulses. The resin is a copolymer of methyl methacrylate, ethyl acrylate and vinyl pyrrolidone.
