Abstract

985,170. Davits. T. SCHRODER-NIELSEN. Feb. 17, 1964 [Sept. 23, 1963], No. 6428/64. Heading B7S. A gravity davit wherein the arm 1 has an ordinary box formed section and swings about a stationary pivot 5 at or near the deck at a distance inboard of the vertical line through the boat keel and is formed with a foot portion 2, includes carrying members for the arm to which the foot portion 2 is firmly mounted comprising two (or two pairs) of structural sections 3, 4 connected at or near their lower ends with the pivot 5 and extending upwardly towards the boat at an acute angle to each other to form together with a rigid connection between their upper ends a substantially triangular frame whereof the foot portion 2 forms the upper and shortest side or a part of same, which side in outboard position of the arm (shown in dotted lines) is supported at or near the deck and the ship's side.
