Abstract

980,863. Dog collars. W. H. CHEETHAM & SONS Ltd. Jan. 10, 1963 [Dec. 16, 1961], No. 45143/61. Heading A1M. [Also in Division E2] A dog collar 10 comprises two fastener members 13, 14 attached respectively one to each of the end portions of the collar and arranged to be connected by the insertion of a tongue or lug 13a on one member 13 through an opening 14a in the other member 14, the tongue or lug also having an opening 13b for a keeper 15 preventing extraction of the tongue or lug from the opening, the keeper 15 being connected directly or indirectly to one end portion of the collar and arranged to be removably inserted into the last-mentioned opening 13b, and an end portion of the collar being secured to one fastener member by being passed around a bar on that member and then turned back and secured to a slider 17 on the collar, the slider being adjustable along the collar to adjust the girth of the collar. As shown, the member 14 is also provided with a slot 14b for the free end of the keeper 15. The collar passes through the slider and in front of and over a centre bar 14d of the member 14, around an end bar 14e and thence back to a centre bar 17b of the slider around which it is looped and secured by a rivet 18. The other end of the collar is looped about end and centre bars 13c, 13e and 13a of the member 13 and is secured, together with the keeper 15, by rivets 20. The collar is provided with a D- ring for the attachment of a leash or chain. In the arrangement according to Figs. 4-6 (not shown), the fastening members of substantially plate like form and the means for attaching a leash is provided by an eye formed at the free end of member 13. In both arrangements the collar proper and the keeper are made of "Terylene" (Registered Trade Mark) and the members 13, 14 are of metal.
