Abstract

980,724. Apparatus for cleaning gases. E. PERCEVAUT. July 19, 1963 [July 19, 1962], No. 28792/63. Heading BIT. Apparatus for extracting dust from gases comprises a cylinder 1 into which opens a tangential gas entry conduit 2. The cylinder 1 has slots 4 with curved edges and the conduit 2 is extended into the cylinder by means of a side wall 2b and bottom wall 2a so that as the conduit enters the cylinder its cross-section increases. Surrounding the cylinder is a rectangular enclosure having a gas exit passage 3 and a conical bottom wall 6 leading to a dust extraction pipe 7. A Venturi portion 8 increases the gas inlet speed and liquid atomizers 9, 10 serve to wash the gas and assist the centrifugal force in directing the dust towards the slots 4.
