Abstract
1,197,234. Gas-scrubber. WALLACE-MURRAY CORP. 19 June, 1967 [20 June, 1966; 19 May, 1967], No. 28179/67. Heading B1R. In a gas-scrubber gas enters a chamber 15 via a tangentially-disposed inlet 18 and passes first downwardly and then upwardly around and within a depending cylindrical baffle 20 to the upper end 20 of a venturi-tube in which it is sprayed with scrubbing liquid from nozzles 33 and 34, the gas passing from the lower end of the venturi-tube to pass upwardly through a section 41 where it is freed from entrained liquid before discharge at 24. A downwardly-directed liquid spray may be arranged near the tangentially disposed inlet 18. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) the venturi-tube is replaced by a cylindrical tube without liquid-spraying nozzles and gas leaving the lower end of the tube bubbles through a bath of scrubbing liquid.
