Abstract
979,421. Partitioning building panels. SARO PRODUCTS Ltd. July 20, 1962 [April 27, 1961], No. 15212/61. Headings E1B, E1J, E1R and E1V. A partitioning structure comprises panels 10, 11, each with peripherally grooved soft wood frame members 16, 17, having nailing strips 19 of incombustible ships-board, a core 20 of resinbonded insulation board, and glued-on facing panels 21 of incombustible ships-board; a glazed panel 27 with a half-height panel thereunder; and a door 14. The panels 10, 11 are joined together, to the ceiling, and to the floor by jointing strips 18 of asbestos wood which also joint the panel 10 to an end joint comprising two L-sectioned strips 42, 43 faced with ships-board strips 44. The end-jamb may also comprise only one strip of wood, or the strips 42 and 43 may be formed integrally with each other. The ceiling securing strip may be formed similarly to the construction shown in Fig. 3, with the removable strip at least as long as the longest panel, or in other ways. The glazed panel 27 is joined to panel 11 by a stud 12 having tongued hard wood members 36, ships-board nailing strips 37 and ships-board facing panels 39. Panel 27 has a soft wood frame faced with ship-board, wired-glass panes 31 and edging beads 32 of asbestos wood. The door panel 14 has a similar construction to panels 10, 11, with a tongued edging of hard wood, and has jambs with external tongues set in grooves to contain adjacent panel ends.
