978,245. Clasp knives; marline-spikes; screwdrivers; wrenches. W. G. IBBERSON, [trading as GEORGE IBBERSON & CO.]. Oct. 28, 1963 [Nov. 2, 1962], No. 41576/62. Headings B4B, B4C and B4W. A clasp knife comprises a blade 10 having a hollow ground cutting edge and a slotted shackle pin screwing and unscrewing member 12 both pivoted to the knife at 16 and a marline spike 14 pivoted to the knife at 24. The back edge of the blade is of substantially uniform thickness for a width less than half the width of the blade, the remaining width of the blade being the hollow ground part thereof. The marline-spike is pivoted between the outer scales 18, 22 of the knife. The blade is pivoted to the scale 18 and to an intermediate scale 20 and the slotted member 12 is pivoted to the scales 20, 22. One end of the scale 20 is extended for use as the blade of a screwdriver. A shackle 28 for attaching a lanyard is pivoted to the knife at opposite ends of a pivot pin 30, the pivot pin having an intermediate portion 32 of rectangular cross-section which is capable of abutting against back springs 26 which bear against the tang of the marlinespike whereby pivotal movement of the shackle will effect locking and unlocking of the marlinespike in either its closed or open position. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 892,670.
