The drive shaft 1 of a reciprocating toothedtype cutter bar for a reaping machine carries, a screwed flange 4 coupled by bolts 8 to the flange 6 of a cardan drive fork 7, the flange 4 being formed with arcuate slots 5 permitting limited lost-motion, of 5 to 20 degrees, between the two drive members. The bolts 8 carry spring washers 9 pressing the flanges 4, 6 into light contact for frictional damping.
