Abstract

977,036. Two-part couplings. MOLEX PRODUCTS CO. July 11, 1962 [July 14, 1961], No. 26685/62. Heading H2E. A housing for a connector of plastics material for inserting in and extending through an opening 78 (Fig. 3) in a panel 69 comprises a hollow body open at its ends and divided into longitudinal compartments suitable for receiving contact members insulated from each other, with an integral ear 68 on each side of the body, which when the body is inserted in the opening 78, bends back to lie parallel with the body and grip the wall of the opening in a recess 74. The initial position of the ear is shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3. As shown in Fig. 1, the body is in two parts, a plug 12 with integral guides 26 fitting into recesses within channels 44 and two lugs 28 fitting into slots 50 in socket 42 forcing the socket walls apart and snapping into the slots on the part 14. Each compartment of the blocks 12, 14 contains conductors 54a, 54b, 54c, 56a, 56b, 56c (Fig. 5), each terminating in a contact member 60 having an integral leg 64 and a contact portion 66. Contact members 60 are retained by lugs 65 integral with bodies 12, 14, shoulders 67 on contacts 60 bearing against one side of lugs 65 and the free end of portions 66 bearing against the other sides.
