977,011. Prizing tools. GIRLING Ltd. Sept. 6, 1961 [July 13, 1960], No. 24362/60. Heading B4C. A tool for use in pushing back a cup-shaped piston in a cylinder of a disc brake of the caliper type, comprises a bar 10 adapted for insertion between the brake disc and the inner end of the piston after the worm friction pad assembly has been removed and which has laterally projecting lugs or lobes 12, 14, 16 of different lengths which on angular movement of the bar about an axis at right angles to the lugs and lobes are adapted to engage with the crown of the piston to push it back into the cylinder. The chisel end 11 of the bar can be used for forcing the tool between the disc and the piston, the tool being then rotated about the main axis of the bar 10. If the piston is not pushed far enough back by the lobe 12, the lug or lobe 13 is used next and finally, if necessary, the lug or lobe 16.
