Abstract

Copolymer emulsion paints comprise an aqueous coating emulsion based on a copolymer of vinyl acetate or an alkyl acrylate with at least one other monomer, and an acetate of an aliphatic or alicyclic alcohol having not less than 5 carbon atoms in the molecule as coalescing agent. The paints may also comprise pigments, fillers and other conventional additives. Examples describe paints comprising a vinyl acetateacrylic ester copolymer, methyl cellulose, sodium hexametaphosphate, titanium dioxide, blanc fixe and amyl, 2-ethyl butyl, 2-ethylhexyl, nonyl, tridecyl and methylcyclohexyl acetates.
