Abstract
975, 642. Cables. CEMENTATION CO. Ltd. Nov. 12, 1963 [Nov. 12, 1962], No. 42748/62. Heading D1T. [Also in Division E1] The anchor cable 1, Fig. 2, is protected by a sheath of tubular plastic 10 that has been thermally shrunk on to the cable where it is to extend into a pre-formed anchor hole 5. As shown the sheath 10 has also been shrunk on to a collar 11 and the exposed cable strands 1b projecting therefrom have been opened out between bindings 9. The lower end of the hole 5 is filled with grout 7 and the upper end with mastic cement or any other grout 8. In Fig. 1, the cable strands 1a have been bound with tape 12 before shrinking the sheath 4 thereon. The spaces between the strands may be filled with an inert filler or one that inhibits corrosion of the strands. The sheath 4 overlaps a rigid inextensible sleeve 2 that encloses the folded ends of the cable strands 1a. The hole 5 is filled with grout 7 and mastic cement 8 as shown. The sheath may comprise a number of overlapping sleeves.
