Abstract
974, 735. Electric selective signalling systems. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Dec. 1, 1960 [Dec. 1, 1959], No. 40762/59. Heading G4H. In a system for determining whether or not an input signal exceeds in magnitude a selected reference amplitude the input signal is converted into a serial-mode pulse train and applied to a comparator on a lead 3, by a first generator, and a serial-mode pulse train representing a reference amplitude selected by a switch 9 is applied to the comparator on a lead 6 from a second generator, and the comparator is so constructed that it only produces an output signal when the input signal exceeds the selected reference signal. The first and second generators are linked by a common source of clock pulses P1-P5, and the first generator may also produce outputs 2 for controlling a printer.
