A pulverizing mill comprises a cylindrical casing 10 rotatable about its horizontal axis, having an inlet opening 14 and an outlet opening 15, a plurality of coaxially arranged and axially spaced rolling races 11, formed within the casing to support a corresponding plurality of disc-shaped grinding members 13, means to direct an air-stream through a passage 20 into the inlet opening and through the mill, and inwardly projecting members, which may be, e.g., scoop-shaped hollow projections 21, arranged along the contour of each crown between each pair of races 11. When the casing is revolved the material, fed from hopper 18 along path A1, is ground by corresponding rotation of the discs. The ground material is lifted by the scoops to the upper part of the mill, and when it falls from the scoops the amount by which the air-stream deflects the material downstream and into the succeeding grinding sections is determined by the particle size of the material.
