Abstract

972,518. Disc brakes. ANDERSON CO. June 6, 1962 [June 8, 1961], No. 21935/62. Heading F2E. [Also in Divisions A4 and E2] A disc brake for preventing rotation of a screw 41 relative to a rod 26 comprises a friction disc 75 fast with a sleeve 73 and urged by Belleville springs 89 into engagement with a friction disc 72 fast with the screw 41. The sleeve 73 is held against rotation relative to the rod 26 by a pin 34 which passes through axial slots 76 in the sleeve. The brake is released by turning lever 80 fast with a shaft 79 and a pin 84 which co-operates with a cam surface 88 on a disc 87 fast with the sleeve 73 to move the latter left against the action of the springs 89. In Figs. 5-7 (not shown) two brake discs on either side of the disc on the screw are moved in opposite directions into engagement with the latter disc by spring means and are moved out of engagement by cam means.
