Abstract

971,483. Floodlights. PYLE-NATIONAL CO. April 1, 1963 [Nov. 28, 1962], No. 12857/63. Heading F4R. A floodlight comprises a flat hollow rectangular body having an internal partition dividing the interior into a lamp compartment and a terminal block compartment, the compartments being connected by a passage closed by a removable plug through which the electric wiring passes, each compartment having an opening on the top surface of the body, closed in the case of the lamp compartment by a member having a window, a separate closure member being provided for the terminal block compartment. In the form shown, the body 11 has an upstanding portion 20 internally threaded over the lamp compartment 12 to receive a collar 32 carrying a gasket 34 on the upper surface on which rests a glass window 33 held in place by a ring 39, further gasketting 37, 40 being provided around the edge and on the upper surface of the glass. The portion 20 is also threaded to receive a cap 48 covering the terminal block compartment 13. The light source is a quartz iodine lamp 26 carried by brackets 27 on the base of the compartment 12 and co-operates with a sheet aluminium reflector 30a. The upper surface of the body is grooved to assist in dissipating heat.
