Abstract
969,978. Pencils. COUDURIER FRERES. July 19, 1962 [Aug. 1, 1961], No. 27914/62. Heading B6P. A pencil for marking hot ingots is made by crushing together silicone resin, mica, barium sulphate, colophony and a dyestuff resisting high temperatures. In one exmaple, a yellow pencil has the following, proportions by weight: Silicone resin .. .. .. 300 Yellow nickel titanate . . . . . 100 Mica in particles of a micron . .100 Barium sulphate in particles .. 450 Barium sulphate in particles of a micron .. .. .. 450 Colophony .. .. .. 50 In another example, a white pencil is made from the above composition by replacing the yellow nickel titanate by titanium oxide. The components of the composition are mixed and ground together in a mixer and then crushed and then kiln heated at 170‹ C. for 3 hours to form a paste. The paste is moulded by infection or extrusion into a sheath of plastic material, tin or like metal having a melting point of at least 300‹ C.
