Abstract
968,739. Refrigerators. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. April 19, 1962 [April 21, 1961], No. 15188/62. Heading F4H. [Also in Division G4] in a deep freezer 1 having a refrigerating unit 3 controlled by an adjustable temperature control 4, a separate thermally responsive switch 5 issues a warning signal when the freezer temperature exceeds a predetermined value. The control 4 and switch 5 are operated by bellows which are connected by tubes 8 and 8<SP>1</SP>, respectively, to sensing elements 9, 9<SP>1</SP>, and the warning signal comprises the switching off of a lamp 7. As shown in Fig. 2 the switch 5 comprises a bellows 6, which together with the tube 8<SP>1</SP> and element 9<SP>1</SP> is filled with CFCl 3 or CHFCl 2 at a pressure of 0.26 to 0.46 atmos. and against which a pivotally mounted lever 11 is urged by a spring 12. When the freezer temperature rises or the bellows develops a leak the bellows expands and forces the lever 11 clockwise, the lever having a projection 13 which forces a leafspring 14 carrying a contact 15 away from a fixed contact 16 thus switching off the lamp 7. In a modification (Figs. 4 to 6, not shown), the lever 11 has projections arranged on arms at either side of the leaf-spring which in this case is snap-acting and opens the contacts when engaged by either projection. The bellows pressure is above atmospheric so that the lever is urged in one direction when the freezer temperature rises and in the opposite direction when the bellows develops a leak.
