966,625. Moulding packages; laminates. AMERICAN PACKAGING CORPORATION. March 21, 1962 [March 23, 1961], No. 10829/62. Headings B5A and B5N. [Also in Division B8] A method of making a packaging container comprises placing a card having an aperture over a mould so that the aperture registers with a cavity in the mould, distending a heated flexible thermoplastic film such as polythene in contact with the side of the card remote from the mould into the cavity to form a pocket, and heat-bonding the film to the card. The heated film 30 is draped over the card stock 18 on the mould 10, and a vacuum pump beneath the mould is actuated so that the film is pressed firmly against the walls of cavities 12 and against the card, being thus also bonded to the card. The card and film are then removed and die cut along lines 27 into individual sections 28 having apertures 23, 24. The sections 28 may be prefolded and stacked, collapsing the pockets. The article to be packaged is placed into the pockets, and the abutting inner faces of the two halves are reheated and pressed together, thus also reinforcing the bond between the card and the film. In a second embodiment, Fig. 6, the containers are each provided with a tear strip 40, the opposing faces being sealed together to the right of the line 37 only.
