Abstract

965,221. Portable containers; cartons. REED PAPER GROUP Ltd. May 25, 1961 [May 30, 1960], No. 19053/60. Headings B8D and B8P. A container comprising an inner receptacle 2 of synthetic plastics material, e.g. polyethylene, a sleeve 6 of cardboard, and an outer casing 1 of double-faced corrugated board, has a closure 3 which is locked on to the container body when the inner parts of tabs 10 on the closure are pushed down over shoulders 5 on the body. Projections 16 on the closure 3 fit into slots 15 cut in a sleeve 14 thereby securing the sleeve. Downward pressure on the sleeve forces the tabs 10 over the shoulders 5. The inside of the closure has a ring 18 of resilient material, e.g. rubber or foam plastic, surrounding a member 17 of corrugated board, cork or wood. The inside of the closure is covered with a sheet of polyethylene laminated paper 19. The inner receptacle 2 and outer casing 1 may be of the same or of different shape in cross-section, e.g. the receptacle 2 may be of circular cross-section and the casing 1 polygonal. The member 19 may be of polythene only.
