964, 848. Knitting machines. TEXTILE MACHINE WORKS. Oct. 18, 1962 [oct.18, 1961], No. 39472/62. Heading D1C. A circular knitting machine having a rotarily operated circle of needles and a plurality of knitting stations each station comprising a series of yarn feeding fingers 15 in combination with yarn severing means 37, 39 for cutting the yarns when the fingers. are in their active-position and means 57, 60, 65 at each station for guiding the yarns moved into inactive position thereat to the severing means associated with another of said stations for severance. The severing means comprises an annulus 35 with teeth 37 which moves in a counterclockwise direction carrying the thread to be severed by a cutting edge 39 on the knife blade 40. The yarn after severing when the yarn fingers are placed in an inactive position is clamped by means of an upcurrent of air through a suction tube 42, when the yarn is again fed back it is cut close to the first needle to take it and the waste yarn is drawn into the tube and collected by a trap 50 (not shown). A tube 42 is provided at each knitting station and all are joined to a common manifold 45 which is exhausted by means of a vacuum pump 47 (not shown).
