Abstract

The invention comprises dialkylaminoethanol salts of 3-(a -aectonyl) benzyl-4-hydroxycoumarin, and their preparation by direct reaction of the components or by converting an alkali metal salt to the free hydroxy-compound by means of an acid, followed by reaction with a dialkylaminoethanol. The courmarin starting material may be purified by treatment of the alkali-metal salt with a decolorising agent, for example charcoal, followed by precipitation of the free hydroxy-compound by acid. Pharmaceutical preparations: The above salts have anticoagulant activity and may be combined with conventional pharmaceutical carriers in forms suitable for oral, rectal or parenteral administration, e.g. as tablets, granules, lozenges, pills, capsules, suppositories, solutions or suspensions.
