Abstract

A process for the simultaneous curing of different kinds of elastomer, comprising sulphur-curing natural rubber or cis-polyisoprene on the one hand and one or more of the elastomers butadiene-styrene, butadiene-acrylonitrile, cis-and trans-polybutadiene, transpolyisoprene, butadiene-unsaturated ketones, butadiene-acrylates or -substituted acrylates, polychlorobutadiene, chlorosulphonated polyethylenes and elastomeric chlorine-containing copolymers either as a blend or in different parts of a single article simultaneously in the presence of an aliphatic amine as the elastomer accelerator or an accelerator for the natural rubber or cis-polyisoprene which has a greater effect on the curing of natural rubber than the amine. The accelerators may be used in such proportions as to cure the mixed rubber in the same time. Cyclo-hexylbenzthiazole sulphenamide and mercaptobenzthiazole are the specified natural rubber accelerators. Known curing acids and the usual curing additives may also be present.
