Abstract

961,981. Vehicle wheels. FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. Jan. 27, 1961 [Sept. 26, 1960], No. 3233/61. Heading B7C. A metal spur wheel disc has a curved bowl shape 1 with a flat hub portion 2 and a relatively thin peripheral flange 3 connected by an outwardly convex curved intermediate portion 4, said intermediate portion being cold worked axially and unstressed in a radial direction, and the thickness of the curved intermediate portion tapering gradually radially outward to said flange. A rim 5 is force fitted on to the wheel disc and continuously welded around its periphery to said flange. Apparatus for making the wheel disc is fully described in Specification 909,120.
