Abstract

961,449. Drills. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 6, 1963 [Oct. 3, 1962 ; March 19, 1962], Nos. 10462/62 and 37464/62. Heading B3C. A drill comprises a tip having a transverse cutting edge 8 and an inclined cutting edge 7. The tungsten carbide cutting tips 3, 4 are brazed on to a 5% carbon steel shank. The side edges 5, 6 are inclined at 1 degree. The tips may be aligned or displaced, as shown in Fig. 4. The two kinds of tips map be combined in one drill 21, Fig. 5. In a further modification, the tip 2, in the unnumbered figure, has the two edges separated by a further edge 4. and may be formed of one or two pieces.
