[Also in Division B1] A sample holder for an absorptiometer comprises a cylindrical housing 1 having diametrically opposed slots 2, 2a for the measuring beam. In the housing is fixed a square section transparent cup holder 3 and sample cup 4. The cup communicates for emptying purposes with a vacuum pump through a stop valve 8 and a conduit 9 is provided to supply washing water. The sample in the cup is homogenised by a magnetic body which rests on a screen and is agitated by an A.C. energized coil 13.
