Abstract

A non-woven cellulose fibre web is produced by treating p deposited staple fibres of regenerated cellulose, immediately after passing through the last pair of a plurality of pairs of squeezing rollers used in the production and while still moist, with an adhesive preparation to strengthen the fibrous material, conveying the fibrous material to a drier and thereafter heating or vulcanising the fibrous material with a dispersion of a synthetic resin or natural or synthetic rubber latex. The adhesive material may be polyvinyl alcohol, a polyvinyl ether, polyvinyl acetate or methyl cellulose. Thermoplastic fibres may be added during the process.
