Abstract

960,584. Pipe joints. GASCOIGNES (READING) Ltd. June 30, 1961 [July 4, 1960], No. 23251/60. Heading F2G. A connection between a metal or other rigid tube 2 and a hollow connector 1 of rubber or similar elastic material is made by providing the tube with a flared end 2A and moulding or extruding the connector so that the bore thereof is substantially the same size as that of the tube, the material of the connector being sufficiently elastic to permit expansion of the bore to receive the flared end of the tube and contract on to the rim 2B of the flared end and into close encircling contact with the rear of the flared end, a non-expansible ring 3 being then applied to grip the connector close to the expanded portion thereof.
