Abstract
957, 875. Washing machines; treating fabrics; vats. L. HALAUNBRENNER. March 26, 1962 [March 29, 1961], No. 11432/62. Headings D1A and D1L. A washing or dyeing machine includes a container for the material to be treated, the container having at least one deformable wall and at least one member adapted to deform said wall, the member and wall being set into relative movement by motor-driven transmission means. The deforming members are cylindrical rollers which are made to move over the deformable side wall(s) which are vertical coaxial circular cylinders thereby pressing in turn all the material in the container, either as in Fig. 3 by having the rollers 3 mounted on rods 4b spring-loaded in arms 4 fixed to a vertical motor-driven shaft 5, or by having one roller and no spring loading in an otherwise similar arrangement, or by using one or two stationary pairs of rollers, one roller being motor-driven to drive (by friction) the container about its axis between each pair. In the latter case, the container is supported either, as in Fig. 5 (not shown), by a horizontal flange 6c from one (rigid) wall resting on an annular roller bearing 5c, or, as in Fig. 7, from channelled sections 37 at the upper ends of the walls (both deformable) which rest in channelled sections of the outer casing. In the latter case, diametral stays 36 hold the upper parts of the two walls apart. Supports 18 of a pantograph type in a similar position are shown in Fig. 5 (not shown), in which also the rollers can be disconnected from their supports at one end and swung out about the other support for servicing etc. The container has a deformable bottom preferably with concentric circular pleats. Fig. 3 shows an intermediate rigid perforated wall 1b in the container, the material to be treated being confined between this wall and the inner deformable wall. Spring-loading, as in Fig. 3, of the supports of non-driving rollers can be done quite generally. A pump is provided to circulate the liquid.
