Abstract
955,805. Wrapping-machines. ZAVODY V.I. LENINA PLZEN. Aug. 2, 1960 [Aug. 13, 1959], No. 26676/60. Heading B8C. Batches 1 of cigarettes moved continuously by conveyer doge 2, pass through a hollow mandrel 4 about which a wrapper 11 is folded, the folding being arranged so that short tucks protruding from the end of the packet so formed are enclosed between the side folds. The wrapper 11, initially supported by the mandrel and a folder 6, is bent round three sides and over the end of the mandrel by vertical descent of a folder 5, the folder 6 pivoting clear (Fig. 2). The mandrel then advances to the right as shown, so that the depending portion of the wrapper is folded on to the fourth side (Fig. 3), and the end tucks on to opposite sides. The folder 6 returns to horizontal and the cigarette batch, as it leaves the mandrel, carries the wrapper into the folder 6. Side portions of the folders 5, 6 co-operate to plough up the remaining packet side folds.
