Abstract
To make a ceramic-glass article by heat treatment of a formed glass capable of controlled vitrification, the glass is made from a batch containing a fluoride in an amount to give in the finished product a weight of fluorine of 0.5 to 2.5% to serve as a nucleating agent. The anions are introduced as a metallic fluoride, preferably one whose oxide forms a major constituent of the glass batch. The glasses used are those disclosed in Specifications 752,243 and 924,996.
