An expanding bracelet comprises two layers of staggered links one link in one layer being connected by a pair of resilient connecting brackets to two links in the other layer, each bracket having an opening in one longitudinal arm to provide two short arms and at least one arm is bent and is retained between opposite walls of the link under resilient tension when the bracelet is contracted and when the bracelet is expanded the arm exerts a restoring torque upon the bracket. The bracelet comprises two layers of links 10, 20 connected by resilient connecting brackets 30, Fig. 8, which are mainly rectangular in shape having the free end of the bent arm extension 35 displaced to lie against the free end of the arm 33 inside the link the height of which equals the diameter of the wire. The links may have openings closed by U-shaped members 12 with tongues 13 to limit the pivoting movement of the connecting brackets. The connecting members may have the shape shown in Figs. 14 and 21 in which the longitudinal arm is bent. The links may comprise sleeves with bent over end extensions and cut-outs to allow insertion of the brackets and additional cut-outs to allow pivoting move ments of the brackets and to provide abutments to limit this movement. The links of the lower layer may be narrower than the links of the upper layer and shells may cover the links.
