Abstract
955,099. Pressure suits &c. E. H. TAYLOR, and BAXTER WOODHOUSE & TAYLOR Ltd. Aug. 28, 1961 [May 27, 1960], No. 18894/60. Heading A3V. In a pressure suit or a vest-like garment to be worn over a pressure suit to distort the suit to a non-circular shape when pressurised to prevent pressure on the sides of the wearer, a series of metal rods or a rigid metal plate is provided on the chest and/or back portion of the garment. As shown, a vest-like garment has a series of horizontal metal tubes 10 located in pockets in the chest and back portions. Fastening means 5, 6 are provided for attachment to a strap of adjustable length passing under the crutch of the suit. In a modification the chest and back portions of the vest-like garment are formed of solid metal plates. In a further modification the rods or tubes are connected vertically to each other by cords, chains &c. Alternatively the rods or tubes may be attached to a pressure suit by moulding or stitching or may be removably secured to the suit.
